Day Of Hope
Day of Hope was celebrated by CRM groups in Nagaland, Tamil Nadu, UP and Bihar. The theme of the day was gender equality and a better future for all children. It was stressed that gender equality could only be achieved when women, men, girls and boys have equal rights, conditions and opportunities and the power to shape their own lives and contribute to the development of society.
In Tamil Nadu, children conducted signature programs and sent postcards to the CM about how eviction of their parents would affect them and their families adversely. The problems posed by drug abuse, the importance of education and the role played by nonformal education centres in Bihar were also highlighted.
World Day against Child Labour
This day was observed by CRM groups in Nagaland, Tamil Nadu, Meghalaya and Bihar. The theme was ‘Universal Social protection to End Child Labour’ with the focus on creating awareness to fight, eradicate and prevent child labour. In Meghalaya, children participated in skits, essays and drawings on eradicating child labour, while in Tamil Nadu, a human chain was formed to draw attention to the menace of child labour. In Bihar children floated balloons with the caption, ‘Employment for Adults, Education for Children’.
